Registered Nurse:
Continuing Education Requirements: CE not required.

Licensure Requirement Summary:

• Graduates of Georgia Board of Nursing Approved Schools in the State of Georgia may apply for licensure online or by submitting a paper application.
• Applicants must submit the following information:
• Completed application
• Non-refundable application fee of $40.00
• Official college transcripts (Nursing education programs must meet the requirements of O.C.G.A. §43-26-2(1.2).
• Completed criminal background check
• Any other additional information requested by the Board
• Applicants should register with Pearson Vue prior to submitting their application for licensure (www.pearsonvue.com/nclex). Applicants should apply for licensure and register with Pearson Vue using the same name.
• Applicants should register with COGENT Systems prior to submitting their application for licensure (www.ga.cogentid.com).


Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
Continuing Education Requirements: CE not required.
Licensure Requirement Summary: You must graduate from a practical nursing program approved by the Georgia Board of Examiners of LPN’s, or, a nursing education program approved by another state Board of Nursing whose course and content requirements are equal to or greater than those required of approved Georgia programs.
You must pass the NCLEX-PN examination.
PLEASE NOTE: If you do not pass the NCLEX-PN exam on your first attempt, there is a forty-five (45) day waiting period before you may be authorized to sit for the exam a subsequent time. Please refer to Board Rule 400-2-.05 Examination and Re-Examination. Amended.


Advance Practice Nursing
• Applicants applying for authorization as an APRN must hold an active Georgia registered nursing license.
• Applicants applying for authorization must submit a paper application.
• Applicants must submit the following information:
• Completed application
• Non-refundable application fee of $60.00
• Official college transcripts
• Applicants must have a master’s degree or other graduate degree approved by the Board
• One of the following:
• Verification of employment documenting three (3) months or five hundred (500) hours of APRN practice
• Proof of graduation from an approved nursing education program within four (4) years immediately preceding the date of application
• Verification of active national certification in his or her area of specialty
