Associate Degree in Nursing
The Nursing program consists of Level I (Practical Nurse Diploma) and Level II courses (A.S. Nursing). Students who complete the Level I courses receive a diploma and are eligible to take the examination for licensure as a practical nurse (LPN). Students who complete Level I and Level II receive an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree and are eligible to take the licensure examination for registered nursing (RN). The Nursing program is offered at the Knight (Warwick), Flanagan (Lincoln), Liston (Providence) and Newport County campuses. In addition, an evening/weekend program is available at the Flanagan and Newport County campuses. Students may apply to any of these programs; however, they may not transfer between programs without department approval. Applicants may earn credits in advance of applying for degree status but this must be done in consultation with the Office of Enrollment Services. Courses may be taken at the main campuses or satellite campuses of the Community College of Rhode Island or at any other accredited college.


Practical Nursing

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
The BSN program for second degree candidates builds on the first baccalaureate degree and includes cognate and required nursing courses. Individualized plans of study are prepared upon application to the College. Second Degree Candidates are admitted to the College intending to major in nursing and apply to the School of Nursing for admission to the BSN program according to established admission criteria.


RN-BSN
The RN to BSN Program is designed for Registered Nurse (RN) students. RN students apply to the College as transfer students. RN students are granted 37 credits for their basic nursing program and additional credit for other academic work. The RN to BSN program includes general education requirements and required nursing courses. The program responds to the needs of the RN student population by offering credit for prior learning, flexible course scheduling, individualized learning experiences, and career development advising. RN students are admitted to the College intending to major in nursing and apply to the School of Nursing according to established criteria.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
For more than 60 years, the Department of Nursing has developed professional nurses who are liberally educated, ethically grounded and clinically competent health care providers. The baccalaureate program at Salve Regina is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Since its inception, our program has maintained full approval from the Rhode Island Board of Nurse Registration and Nursing Education.


RN-BSN
The degree completion track for the B.S. in nursing is designed for licensed registered nurses who graduated from an accredited program awarding an associate degree or a diploma in nursing and have an active license as a registered nurse. To earn the B.S. in nursing, students must complete 132 credits. Students are automatically granted 58 credits for their prior educational preparation as a registered nurse. Other coursework taken during the licensing process or more recently may also be eligible for transfer to Salve Regina. Students must take a minimum of 36 credits at Salve Regina to earn the bachelor's degree.

Diploma
St. Joseph School of Nursing offers a three-year program leading to a diploma in nursing. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national licensing examination for Registered Nurses. Academic preparation is derived from courses taken at the School of Nursing and affiliating colleges. Once enrolled in the School of Nursing, all physical and social science courses must be taken within the curriculum of the school. Being a commuter school, the students are responsible for their own transportation to and from classes and clinical practice areas. The School of Nursing is located in Marian Hall on the campus of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, Rhode Island.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
A baccalaureate program in nursing is designed to prepare men and women to become professional registered nurses. This program is organized into a basic 4-year program.


RN-BSN
This program is designed for registered nurses with an Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing who wish to complete their baccalaureate degree. The College of Nursing has designed an accelerated program that recognizes the academic credits from the student's basic program.

The Doctorate of Nursing Practice program prepares advanced practice nurses at the highest level for clinical practice.
